The improved list of Latvian Networks

NIC.LV has made significant improvements to the list of IP addresses assigned to organisations in Latvia, making it more compact and accurate.

For many years we have been maintaining a list of autonomous system numbers and its corresponding IPv4 and IPv6 address areas, used by various organisations in Latvia - Internet service providers, financial institutions, companies, etc. Although these networks may expand geographically across the borders of Latvia, the topicality of updating and using the list remains. This list of Latvian Networks is mostly used for filter development in firewalls and routers to allow access to users from Latvia but restrict it to others. Every day we observe several thousand requests for the list.

Until now, the list was created only manually, by the written request of the IP address owners. However, now three sources are merged into one - in addition to the manual list, data from RIPE NCC and the router’s BGP table (that contains the networks of Latvian organisations), will also be taken into account.

The improved list contains sections:

  • ######DESCR. PART###### displays the manual list;
  • ######DYNAMIC DATA###### displays data from RIPE NCC and router BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) table;
  • ######ACCT. PART###### manual data is merged with new data, creating one common list with “Latvian Networks”.

The list of Latvian IPv6 and IPv4 addresses are stored in two different files.

The list of IP addresses assigned to organisations in Latvia is updated automatically every day at 2:00 AM.
