This week, the international domain industry conference – CENTR Jamboree 2026 – took place in Berlin, attended by the NIC.LV team. Over the course of three days, more than 200 participants from domain registries and industry organizations around the world discussed the future of the internet and the domain name industry, focusing on security, user protection, and technological development.
On the first day of the conference, special attention was given to domain name security, digital identity protection, and users’ ability to secure suitable domain names in a timely manner. NIC.LV legal counsel Iveta Skujiņa also participated in discussions on domain name registration procedures and user opportunities. Participants explored how registries and registrars can make domain name management more convenient and secure while maintaining a balance between accessibility, security, and fair competition.

On the second day of the conference, the focus shifted to domain renewal rates, data quality, and the accuracy of user information. Industry experts discussed how to measure domain renewal trends and what these trends reveal about market development and user behavior. The importance of customer and domain holder data verification was also examined, along with the impact of artificial intelligence on the industry and the broader internet ecosystem.

The third day of the conference featured thematic working groups and practical sessions, in which NIC.LV colleagues also participated. During the parallel sessions, experts from various fields discussed current challenges facing the domain name industry — ranging from legal and regulatory matters to technology, user behavior, and marketing.
Particular attention in the working groups was devoted to domain name security and the prevention of malicious abuse, customer and registrant data verification, the development of DNSSEC, and future cybersecurity solutions. Separate sessions also addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on the domain name industry, as well as changes in user behavior and domain renewal trends.
Conference participants also shared experiences regarding cooperation between registries and registrars, digital identity protection, improving customer experience, and marketing activities in a competitive environment.
At the conclusion of the conference, participants agreed that the domain name industry continues to evolve rapidly, and that close cooperation between registries worldwide is essential for ensuring a secure and trustworthy internet environment.
