.LV at 73rd CENTR Legal & Regulatory Workshop

The representative of the .LV registry participated in the 73rd CENTR Legal & Regulatory Workshop, where country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) registries from across Europe discussed current legal and regulatory issues.

The .LV representative took part in a panel discussion on the importance of publicly available data, emphasizing the need to find a balance between data accessibility, cybersecurity, and personal data protection. The discussion examined how the requirements of the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) affect the availability of public data and how registries can ensure both secure and socially responsible information sharing.

Participants also discussed the challenges related to data retention and data publication, as well as the impact of the Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2) and the General Data Protection Regulation on the operations of domain name registries. Seminar participants further analyzed in depth the development of the “trusted flagger” mechanism, the requirements of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), and the latest European Union policy initiatives in the digital domain.

Participation in the workshop strengthens the involvement of the .LV registry in exchanging experience with registries from other countries, contributing to the development of secure, reliable, and up-to-date domain governance aligned with the latest regulatory requirements.
