The new year has brought good news to the fans of Chinese internet. The China’s country code top level domain (ccTLD) .cn pulled ahead of the German ccTLD .de in terms of registered domain names. Now there are more than 16.36 domain names registered under .cn while there are “only” 16.023 millions in .de. Now the Chinese have to beat the front-runner - the ccTLD .tk of Tokelau - which has more than 29 millions domain names under its management.
In the early 2016 .xyz got more than 1.7 millions of domain names and thus beat .us (the ccTLD of the United States). Now .xyz has to outpace .biz as its next objective.
